Women's Basketball CAA Release

CAA Adjusts Future Championship Sites

RICHMOND, Va. – In response to the unexpected cancellation of the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Basketball Championship presented by Sonabank, the event will return to the campus of Elon University's Schar Center in 2021.

The Conference's 10 athletic directors voted in favor of the decision as a show of support for Elon, which was in the midst of hosting the 2020 championship before it was canceled prior to the quarterfinals due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Each of the schools scheduled to host the ensuing four championships will host a year later than originally announced.

The 2022 championship will take place in James Madison's new Atlantic Union Bank Center, which is set to open during the 2020-21 school year. The Dukes have hosted the CAA Women's Basketball Championship six times to date, most recently in 2017. The arena will have a seating capacity of 8,500 and include premium seating experiences.

Towson's SECU Arena will play host to the 2023 championship. The Tigers will be hosting the championship for the first time in program history. Towson captured its first-ever CAA title in 2018-19. SECU Arena features 5,200 seats and 340 club seats as well as a center hung video display and scoreboard.

The 2024 championship will be heading to Philadelphia for just the second time in tournament history. Drexel's Daskalakis Athletic Center hosted the 2018 CAA Women's Basketball Championship. The "DAC" has a capacity of 2,500.

For the second time in tournament history, William & Mary will host the CAA Women's Basketball Championship. The 2025 championship will take place in the Tribe's Kaplan Arena, which is undergoing extensive renovations over the next two years.
