WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.

Our latest installment profiles Mallory Martin, who joined the Facilities and Event Management staff as an assistant director in March of 2020.

What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW? 
My first day was the baseball team's victory against East Carolina. The following day, we had to cancel the remainder of our spring sports seasons due to COVID-19 concerns.

What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
Tearing my Achilles during my first week here. Nothing makes a memory quite like an injury.

What does working at UNCW mean to you?
Working at UNCW to me means being a part of something bigger than our events. It's bigger than just our facilities. It means being a part of a family.   

If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
#10 – it is a family number.

Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
No.
