Phu Khine authored a four-over par 148 to lead UNCW during the opening day of the UNC Tar Heel Classic Hosted by Suzy Whaley at the Casa de Campo Resorts & Villas on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who are playing in the first international tournament in the program's history, completed the first two rounds of the tournament in 12th place with a 605 team score. Wake Forest holds a four-stroke lead over Virginia after 36 holes as the Demon Deacons shot nine-under par.
Khine, who holds a share of 28th place, carded a three-over par 75 in the first round before finishing the day with a one-over par 73. Junior
Thao My Nguyen follows in a tie for 37th place after posting a 74-76=150 score.
Freshman
Madison Isaacson is tied for 51st place at nine-over par (74-79=153) while senior
Ellinoora Moisio stands in a share of 56th place.
Sophomore
Rachael Mast completed the Seahawks' contingent with a 78-79=157 score, finishing the day in a tie for 65th place.
Up Next: UNCW completes play at the UNC Tar Heel Classic on Saturday with the final round. The Seahawks, who will be paired with Maryland and Louisville, will tee off at 7:30 a.m.
