NORMAN, Oklahoma – Freshman
Phu Khine carded a one-under-par 70 to lead UNCW during the opening round of the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club on Friday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who are playing in their first tournament of the season, posted an eight-over-par 292 to close out the first round in 13th place. Alabama and Texas are tied for the lead after posting identical 12-under-par team scores on Friday.
Khine, making her college debut, posted a pair of birdies during the opening round to finish in a tie for 16th place.
Junior
Thao My Nguyen completed the first round in a tie for 22nd place after shooting an even-par 71, including a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
Sophomore
Rachael Mast is tied for 48th place at three-over-par while senior
Ellinoora Moisio holds a share of 65th place at six-over-par.
Freshman
Madison Issacson closed out the Seahawks' contingent at 11-over-par, which is good for 80th place.
The second round of the Schooner Fall Classic is scheduled for Saturday morning with the Seahawks starting from the 10th hole at 9:20 a.m. CT.
