HIGH POINT, North Carolina – UNCW used goals from sophomore
Emil Elveroth and senior
Ben Fisher to close out exhibition play with a 2-0 victory over High Point at Vert Stadium on Saturday evening.
Elveroth gave the Seahawks a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute when he took a pass from Fisher and scored from inside the six-yard box.
Fisher upped the advantage to 2-0 with 7:05 remaining when he blasted a free kick from the top of the penalty area that hit the post and went in.

Kyle McGovern and redshirt senior
Ryan Cretens split time in goal for the Seahawks. McGovern played the first half and did not record a save while Cretens notched a pair of stops in the second half.
UNCW outshot High Point by a 13-3 margin, including an 8-2 edge in the second half.
Up Next: The Seahawks open the regular season next weekend when they compete at the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Soccer Classic hosted by the College of Charleston. UNCW faces West Virginia on Friday, Aug. 24, before playing against Stetson on Sunday, Aug. 26.
