5/25/2018 7:00:00 AM

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Seahawks will play second-seeded Elon on Friday at 11 a.m. in the finals of the winner's bracket of the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament at Veterans Memorial Park.

The Seahawks advanced with a 9-2 win over top-seeded Northeastern behind a complete game effort from junior righthander Alex Royalty. Home runs from Kep Brown, Ryan Jeffers and Cole Weiss powered the Seahawks, who broke open the game with a five-run fourth inning.

Elon, meanwhile, edged third-seeded Charleston, 3-2, with a bases-loaded single in the 12th inning on Thursday. The Phoenix took two-of-three from the Seahawks earlier this season at Brooks Field.

The winner of Friday's game advances to Saturday's championship round, beginning at 1 p.m. The loser will play at 7 p.m. Friday night against the loser of game eight.
