CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina – Sophomore Rachael Mast carded a three-over-par 75 to lead UNCW during the opening round of the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at UNC Finley Golf Course on Friday afternoon.
 
The Seahawks, who finished the first round in 17th place, shot a 305 team score in the first round. Duke surged to an early lead after firing a 17-under-par team score.
 
Mast paced the Seahawks with three birdies to close out the first round in a tie for 42nd place. Junior Thao My Nguyen holds a share of 52nd place after posting a four-over-par 76 while senior Ellinoora Moisio and freshman Phu Khine are tied for 68th place at five-over-par.
 
Freshman Madison Issacson completed the Seahawks' opening round effort with a seven-over-par 79.
