Final Round Results
GREENVILLE, South Carolina – Sophomore
Thao My Nguyen posted a career-best three-under par 69 to lead UNCW during the final round of the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.
The Seahawks, who posted a 295 team score in the final round, closed out the tournament in eighth place. Host Furman rallied past Daytona State with an eight-under par effort in the third round to win the team title with a 10-stroke advantage.
Nguyen, who finished in a tie for 12th place, closed out the tournament by recording four birdies in the third round. She posted her third round of par or better this season, including the second round in the tournament after opening play with an even-par effort on Friday.
Senior
Kayla Thompson earned a share of 16th place after ending the tournament with an one-over par 73 while junior
Ellinoora Moisio followed in a tie for 26th place at seven-over par.
Freshmen
Caroline Cahill and
Rachael Mast finished in a tie for 56th and 81st places, respectively.
Coach Cindy Ho Says: "I am very happy with the way we competed in the tournament this week. We got off to a slow start today, but I am proud of how we recovered and finished out the round. I was really proud of how we hung in there and settled down on the back side (of the round). I thought we had to really dig deep when things weren't going our way. I am really excited for Thao My and Kayla as they had solid rounds today against a very strong field. Both of them are playing really well for them and to earn a top 20 finish against a field of this caliber is very good."
