WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW used a goal early in each half to earn a 2-1 victory over High Point in the Seahawks' exhibition opener at UNCW Soccer Stadium on Saturday evening.
Junior
Ben Fisher gave the Seahawks a quick 1-0 lead in the seventh minute when he scored off an assist from sophomore
Phillip Goodrum.
High Point tied the game less than a minute later on a goal from Yosef Teffera.
Sophomore
Spencer Saunders reclaimed a 2-1 edge for the Seahawks just under five minutes into the second half after passes from junior
Shane Mecham and senior
Ryan Nally.
Each team posted five shots in the contest while High Point had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Up Next: The Seahawks continue their exhibition schedule on Tuesday morning at Gardner-Webb with a 10:30 a.m. contest. UNCW closes out the exhibition slate next Saturday at Wake Forest.
