Diamond Hawks Continue Homestand With Iona

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW hosts Iona in a three-game series beginning on Friday as the Seahawks continue an eight-game homestand with a 4 p.m. start.

Both teams are looking to return to the win column after Iona topped, 11-2, at Stony Brook and UNCW dropped a 6-4 decision to visiting Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.

The Gaels (4-9) fell behind early at Stony Brook, allowing six runs in the bottom of the first inning to the Seawolves. Freshman infielder Sean Breen led the IC lineup with two hits.

The Seahawks (9-5), meanwhile, fought back from a 4-1 deficit to tie Coastal Carolina in the fifth inning at four-all. Coastal, though, was able to take advantage of a leadoff walk in the sixth inning to plate the go-ahead run.

The series continues on Saturday and concludes on Sunday. Both days are slated for 2 p.m. starts. All three games will be streamed for free at portal.stretchinternet.com/UNCW. Live stats are available at UNCWstats.com.
