WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Two days after taking over sole possession of first place in the Colonial Athletic Association, the UNCW men's basketball team takes on Northeastern in a rematch of their game 35 days ago at Trask Coliseum.

The surging Seahawks hiked their record to 17-5 overall and 9-2 in the CAA with a wild 70-67 victory over Hofstra on Thursday night on Long Island. Junior guard Denzel Ingram drilled a three-pointer on the right wing with :04 on the clock as the Seahawks won their eighth straight game and sent the Pride into second place in the CAA standings.

UNCW is the decided CAA frontrunner following Thursday's comeback win. William & Mary and Hofstra sit one game back at 8-3, while James Madison and Towson stand 7-4. Northeastern enters Saturday's game in eighth place in the CAA standings.

The Seahawks are completing the regular season series with the Huskies after freshman Jeremy Miller lifted Bill Coen's club to a 65-63 victory back on Jan. 2 at Trask Coliseum. Since that loss, the Seahawks have won eight of nine conference games over the last five weeks.

The Seahawks have won eight in the row for the first time since an identical string from Feb. 10, 2006, to March 4, 2006. Head Coach Kevin Keatts and his club can match the longest streak in school history, a nine-game skein from Feb. 15, 2003, to March 10, 2003, with a victory in Beantown. The Huskies, meanwhile, have dropped five in a row - four at Matthews Arena.

William & Mary dealt Northeastern its fifth consecutive loss with an 86-77 verdict on Thursday night at Matthews Arena. Omar Prewitt finished with a game-high 28 points and five rebounds for the Tribe, which completed a sweep of the regular season series vs. NU. Miller notched a career-high 23 points in 19 minutes and David Walker reached the top-10 on the Northeastern career scoring chart with 19 points, eight assists and seven rebounds

Saturday marks the 19th meeting between the Seahawks and Huskies. NU leads the series, 10-8, and has won two straight over UNCW. UNCW stands 2-7 at venerable Matthews Arena after winning last year in Kevin Keatts' first appearance in Boston. The Seahawks made their debut at Matthews on Dec. 2, 2006, losing 58-51.

In last year's installment in Boston, freshman playmaker Jordon Talley exploded for a career-high 21 points to lead three players in double figures as UNCW stunned preseason CAA favorite Northeastern, 75-68, on Jan. 5, 2015, for only their second win at Matthews Arena. The Seahawks shot 54.4 percent, including 62.5 percent in the second half, and never trailed in their first conference road win. Addison Spruill collected 20 points and Freddie Jackson chipped in 18 points to help the Seahawks snap a four-game losing streak.

One of the storylines involving Saturday's game is the playing status of CAA Preseason Second-Team pick Quincy Ford, who racked up 18 points and 14 rebounds in the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 2 in Wilmington. Ford has missed the last four games with an injury.

With the exception of a 76-60 loss on Jan. 7, the Seahawks have been outstanding during the Thursday game of the CAA's new format, going 5-1 with three conference road victories under their belt.

The Seahawks have also been one of the CAA's best road teams since Keatts arrived last season. UNCW went 5-4 in league road games one year ago and Keatts has the team sitting at 5-1 in conference road outings this time around, losing only at Towson on Jan. 6. UNCW is a combined 10-5 in CAA roadies since his arrival.

Following Saturday's game in Boston, the Seahawks head back to North Carolina to play four of their last six games in the regular season, including a pair of conference battles next week at Trask Coliseum vs. Elon (Feb. 11) and James Madison (Feb. 13).
