WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball program pays tribute to seniors Kevin Hickson, Craig Ponder and Dylan Sherwood early Saturday when the Seahawks wrap up the regular season with a 1 p.m. tip-off against Towson at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks, 21-7 overall and 13-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, remain tied with Hofstra for the top spot in the 10-team circuit. The Pride pulled off a 70-69 upset of the Seahawks on Thursday behind scoring guard Juan'ya Green's late-game heroics.

Saturday marks the final appearance for Hickson, Ponder and Sherwood, who have combined to play in 266 games over the last five seasons. Hickson joined the club as a walk-on in 2014-15, while Ponder and Sherwood both redshirted their freshman years in 2010-11.

Senior Day ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 12:54 p.m. just before tip-off. The trio and their families will be honored for their contributions to the program prior to the second pairing of the season with the Tigers, 20-10 and 11-6.

Ponder will set a school record on Saturday with his 126th appearance in a Seahawk uniform. He breaks the old mark shared by all-time great Brett Blizzard, Chad Tomko and Cedrick Williams. The Bluefield, W.Va., product has scored 1,095 points, grabbed 319 rebounds and doled out 247 assists since his debut in a Seahawk uniform on Nov. 13, 2011, at Maryland.

It's been 50 days since the Seahawks and Tigers met. Since the two teams tangled on Jan. 7 at SECU Arena in Towson, Md., the Seahawks have been one of hottest teams in the conference, fashioning a 12-2 record in that span. Towson, meanwhile, hasn't been too shabby, either, going 9-5.

In that clash near Baltimore, junior forward William Adala Moto scored 13 of his game-high 20 points at the free throw line and Towson dominated the boards in a 76-60 victory in the CAA road opener for the Seahawks. The Tigers jumped out to a 36-25 advantage at halftime and held off the Seahawks down the stretch by converting 29-of-36 free throws. Adala Moto, playing his first game vs. UNCW after transferring from Wake Forest, led all scorers with his 20 points, while junior guard Denzel Ingram paced the Seahawks with a career-high 18 points.

UNCW and Towson meet for the 34th time on Saturday and the 14th time at Trask Coliseum. The Seahawks own a 19-14 advantage in the series and have won three of the last four matchups. Towson's 76-60 victory on Jan. 7 marked UNCW's second worst CAA loss of the season. The two teams have split the last 10 meetings. Towson has averaged 70.2 ppg and UNCW has collected 68.5 ppg over that time.

The Seahawks are well on their way to leading the CAA in attendance for the second straight year. UNCW tops the league, averaging 4,154 fans in 13 home contests, including a pair of sellouts vs. Charleston and James Madison.

Today's game features five of the top-16 scorers in the CAA. Chris Flemmings (7th|16.1), Adala Moto (10th|14.0), Byron Hawkins (12th|13.6), Mike Morsell (14th|12.9) and Denzel Ingram (16th|12.6) are five of the CAA's proven scorers who can fill up the basket.

Following Saturday's contest with the Tigers, the Seahawks gear up for next week's CAA Tournament in Baltimore. The Seahawks will be the No. 1 or No. 2 seed and play at Noon or 6 p.m. next Saturday, March 5, at Royal Farms Arena near the Inner Harbour.

All of UNCW's games are carried live on the Seahawk Digital Network (SDN).
