WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW shoots for its eighth consecutive victory on Tuesday night when the red-hot Seahawks entertain East Carolina in the 64th meeting between the two regional rivals at Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks (10-1) and Pirates (7-4) get together for their annual soiree at 6:30 p.m. in the final game for both teams before the Christmas break.

Expectations were high for UNCW in 2016-17 following an NCAA Tournament appearance one year ago and the Seahawks have not disappointed. Coach Kevin Keatts and his high-powered club won their first four games of the new season before a five-point setback against Middle Tennessee State in the opening game of the Challenge In Music City.

Since then, however, the Seahawks have been impressive, reeling off seven consecutive wins behind a versatile offense clicking on all cylinders. During their current seven-game streak, UNCW has averaged 95.3 points and shot 54.3 percent from the floor.

Overall, UNCW leads the CAA in field goal percentage, shooting an outstanding 50.8 percent as a team, and has shot better than 50 percent in 11 halves this season, including nine of the last 12 periods. In four home games – all wins - the Seahawks are shooting 56.7 percent and averaging 101.0 ppg.

The Seahawks enter Tuesday's contest with four players averaging in double figures and seven collecting at least seven points per game. The guard tandem of Chris Flemmings (18.1) and C.J. Bryce (17.5) anchors the club, while sophomore forward Devontae Cacok (14.0 ppg) and senior guard Denzel Ingram (11.7) give UNCW plenty of firepower.

Cacok, who ranks second among the NCAA's Division I schools in field goal percentage with 80.7 percent from the floor, is building on his school record for consecutive field goals. He has converted his last 15 shots, 8-for-8 last Thursday at Campbell and 7-for-7 in Sunday's 100-64 rout of Radford. He was honored by the Colonial Athletic Association as the league's Player-of-the-Year for the second time early Monday.

Following Saturday's 36-point clobbering of Radford, UNCW stands 23-12 against non-conference opponents in Keatts' three seasons. Keatts is a perfect 11-0 at home vs. non-conference competition.

ECU, meanwhile, eyes a bounce back game after suffering a 53-35 loss to CAA member College of Charleston last Thursday at Minges Coliseum in Greenville. The Pirates shot a sub-par 23.4 percent from the floor during an off shooting night and had their 19-game non-conference home winning streak snapped by the scrappy Cougars.

UNCW leads the overall series by a 35-28 margin and has won seven of the last 10 matchups between the two schools. The Seahawks stand 21-7 against the Pirates all-time at Trask Coliseum.

ECU won the most recent meeting between the two school last December in Greenville. B.J. Tyson scored 21 points and Caleb White added 20 as the Pirates rallied down the stretch for a 78-73 verdict. Chris Flemmings had 16 points in his first game vs. ECU.

The Pirates are averaging 64.8 ppg and just 44.0 ppg over their last two outings, losses at Virginia (76-53) and to the Cougars. White, a 6-7, 210-pound senior forward, paces three players in double figures for Coach Jeff Lebo's unit with 13.6 ppg, followed by Tyson (12.4) and sophomore guard Kentrell Barkley (11.2).

Following Tuesday's clash with the Pirates, the Seahawks take a few days off for the Christmas holiday before returning to campus to prepare for a Dec. 28 matchup at Clemson.
