NEWARK, Delaware – UNCW looks for a split of its weekend trip to the Maryland-Delaware region on Saturday when the Seahawks take on Delaware's Blue Hens in a Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball clash at the Bob Carpenter Center.

The Seahawks, 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the CAA, will be trying to snap a seven-game losing streak in Newark that dates back to the 2006 season. The Blue Hens, 5-9 and 0-3, have dropped six in a row since 70-69 nail biter at Marist back on Dec. 12.

The two teams, who tip-off at 7 p.m., will get to know each other well in the next couple weeks. The new CAA schedule has UNCW and UD meeting twice in a 12-day stretch. In fact, two of UNCW's next four games are against the Blue Hens.

In their last appearance, UNCW was held to season lows in scoring and field goal percentage by host Towson in a 76-60 victory over the Seahawks on Thursday night at SECU Arena in Towson, Md. Junior forward William Adala Moto scored 13 of his game-high 20 points at the free throw line as the Tigers went 29-of-36 at the charity stripe. Towson dominated in the paint, outrebounding UNCW, 43-25, and scoring 30 points around the basket.

Delaware, meanwhile, was manhandled, 88-56, to CAA unbeaten Northeastern on Thursday at Matthews Arena in Boston. The Huskies led by 23 points at halftime, 44-21, and the margin swelled to 35 points in the second half before the final verdict. Freshman forward Jeremy Miller had a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds for NU, which attempted 35 three-pointers.

The Seahawks have faced Delaware more than any other former America East member since UD, Hofstra, Towson and Drexel joined the league 12 years ago. UNCW holds a 17-11 advantage in the series and owns four CAA Tournament victories (2002, 2003, 2006, 2008) over the Blue Hens.

UD has swept seven of the last 10 meetings with UNCW and won five straight games over the Seahawks before UNCW's 74-73 overtime victory last January.

UNCW stands 4-8 against Delaware at the Bob Carpenter Center and has dropped seven straight to the Blue Hens in Newark. UNCW's last win at the Bob came on Jan. 5, 2006, in a 71-58 decision. The Seahawks also stand 6-9 against UD's Monte Ross since he took over the Blue Hen program and have never beaten the Blue Hens' coach on his home floor in seven tries.

In the last game between the Seahawks and Blue Hens on Feb. 19, 2015, in Newark, Delaware shot 65.2 percent in the second half and opened the frame with a 30-9 run to earn a come-from-behind 70-59 victory over the first-place Seahawks. The Blue Hens trailed, 35-25, at halftime, but rode the hot shooting of Cazmon Hayes (19 points) to gain a split of the regular season series.

The Seahawks are 3-4 away from Trask Coliseum and 1-4 in true road games. UNCW's last victory on an opponent's court came on Nov. 28, 2015, at East Tennessee State behind a season-best 58.6 percent shooting performance.

The Seahawks have reached the midway point of the regular season and have 15 games remaining on the docket - seven at home and eight on the road.

Following Saturday's game, the Seahawks wrap up a string of three consecutive CAA road games with a trip up the road to Elon, N.C., on Thursday to take on the surprising Phoenix at Alumni Gym.
