WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Just days after earning the program's first at-large berth to the NCAA tournament, UNCW will take the field on Thursday when it hosts Patriot League champion Bucknell in a 7 p.m. start at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The nationally-ranked Seahawks are making their second NCAA tournament appearance with the first coming in 2009 when they advanced to the second round before losing to third-seeded Wake Forest. The Seahawks stand at 12-4-2 and earned a share of the Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship with a 5-2-1 record.

Bucknell, who is making its seventh NCAA appearance, ran through the Patriot League tournament as the five-seed and topped nationally-ranked Boston University, 3-2, in the finals for the league's automatic bid to the tournament. The Bison carry a 10-9-2 record into Thursday's game, which will be the first between the Seahawks and Bison.

The Seahawks landed three players on the Colonial Athletic Association's first-team, including Defensive Player-of-the-Year Jacob VanCompernolle. The Seahawks boasted the top goals against average in the conference at 0.84 and have limited opponents to just 3.3 shots on goal this season. Joining VanCompernolle on the first team were leading scorer Jamie Dell and forward Colin Bonner. David Sizemore was a second team selection, Mark Harris earned a spot on the third team and freshman Brayden Smith was named All-Rookie.

UNCW Head Coach Aidan Heaney earned his fourth CAA Coach-of-the-Year honor after guiding the Seahawks to their third CAA regular season title. The Seahawks were picked fifth in a preseason poll of the league's coaches.

The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the second round and visit 16th-seeded Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m.
