Midnite Madness Brings Hoops Excitement

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Midnite Madness, the popular season-opening ritual that sends students into a frenzy and creates chills up the spines of college basketball coaches, once again made its appearance at Trask Coliseum Friday night.

A large turnout of students and community supporters watched as a variety of games took place, a three-point shooting contest was staged between the men's and women's teams and the slam dunk finale concluded the night's festivities.

Former John T. Hoggard guard Zack Allen was the runaway three-point contest winner after he outdueled women's basketball newcomer Jordan Henry.

In the slam dunk competition, senior guard Marcus Graham outlasted Luke Hager and Chris Dixon for bragging rights.

The men's team plays the first of two exhibition games on Oct. 30 against Belmont Abbey at Trask Coliseum. The women's team, meanwhile, takes on UNC Pembroke in an exhibition tilt on Nov. 4.
