UNCW Reaches Agreement With IMG College

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - The UNCW athletics department has reached an agreement with IMG College, a division of IMG Worldwide, on a multi-year athletics sponsorship consulting partnership.

IMG College is the leading multimedia, marketing and licensing/brand management company in America and represents more than 200 of the nation's top collegiate properties, including the NCAA and its 89 championships. Since its creation in 2007, IMG College has grown to represent the sponsorship or multimedia rights of numerous collegiate properties, including Colonial Athletic Association members Delaware and Georgia State.

"We're pleased to partner with IMG College and look forward to continuing to expand our sponsorship portfolio," said Jimmy Bass, UNCW's athletic director. "We're confident that this partnership will result in maximized opportunities and increased exposure for UNCW Athletics through IMG's resources and expertise."

Under terms of the agreement, IMG College provides consulting services and sales representation for the Seahawks. Jerry Reckerd, Assistant Vice-President of Mid-Atlantic Regional Properties, will counsel Seahawk sports marketing staffers on best practices and proper selling techniques as well as provide the tools necessary to maintain a successful multimedia rights program.

IMG College is the leader in capturing consumer devotion to college sports through partnership opportunities in multimedia rights, licensing, events and hospitality, marketing, stadium and arena development, stadium seating solutions, ticketing, sales, and consulting. IMG College produces nearly 30,000 hours of radio programming on the largest sports network in the country, manages nearly 5,000 hours of local television programming, is the leading publisher of college sports publications, and is the largest manager of university athletic websites. UNCW is a charter member of the CAA and sponsors 19 intercollegiate teams, including baseball, men's basketball, women's basket ball, men's cross country, women's cross country, men's golf, women's golf, men's soccer, women's soccer, softball, men's swimming and diving, women's swimming and diving, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's track and field, women's track and field, and volleyball. The Seahawks won more CAA championships than any other league member in 2011-12, claiming titles in men's golf, women's golf, men's swimming and diving and baseball.
