Bundy Elevated To Assistant Coach Position

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - Former Wilmington Hammerheads standout Ken Bundy has been hired as an assistant coach for the UNCW men's soccer program, Head Coach Aidan Heaney announced on Monday.

Bundy served as a volunteer assistant for the Seahawks during the 2009 season as UNCW captured its first Colonial Athletic Association championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He replaces Steve Magee, who recently accepted the head coaching position at Eckerd College.

"I'm excited to be able to elevate Kenny into the assistant coach position," said Heaney. "We're able to keep continuity in the program after his contributions last season. Kenny is a solid soccer person who has the work rate off the field to help keep the program in the right direction."

Bundy will be responsible for the daily operations of the program and its academic commitments. He also will assist Heaney in recruiting.

"I have big shoes to fill because Steve set the bar high," said Bundy. "My goal is to keep the level high. Working with Coach Heaney and the players in this program is an honor and a great opportunity for me."

Bundy is a native of Bixby, Okla., and played collegiately for UNC Greensboro before joining the Hammerheads.
