Seahawks Sign Georgia Guard

WILMINGTON, North Carolina - High scoring Georgia guard Adam Smith will bring his talents to the backcourt at UNC Wilmington after inking a National Letter of Intent with the Seahawks on the first day of the fall early signing period for the 2011-12 season.

"Adam has the ability to create his own shot off the dribble and can score a lot of points in a hurry," said Buzz Peterson, UNCW's first-year coach. "I love his tireless work ethic and his versatility to play both guard positions."

A 6-1, 175-pound guard, Smith averaged 25.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a junior at Fayette County High School in Fayetteville, Ga. He sparked Coach Andre Flynn's team to a 21-7 record.

Smith was named First-Team All-State by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the AJC's Southside Player-of-the-Year. Smith also plays for the Georgia Impact AAU team.
