CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Kathleen Casto won the 3,000 meter run to pace UNC Wilmington at
the UNC Classic on Saturday at the Ed Smith Field House.
Joining
Casto with event wins for the Seahawks were sophomore Chris Letson and senior
Aaron Wiggins. Letson ran 50.25 in winning the 400 meters while Wiggins led the
topped in the Pole Vault with a height of 15-5.
Freshman sprinter
Janie Bogle turned in a solid effort in the 60-meters, placing sixth overall
with a time of 7.75 in the finals. She advanced to the finals after clocking in
at 7.73, a season-best, in the opening round.
Bernadette O'Neill, a senior, posted a fourth-place finish in the 3,000, just behind Casto
with a time of 10:22.95.
In the
women's Pole Vault, sophomore Jordan Daywalt and senior Jenna Helmink finished
third and fourth, respectively. Both vaulted 10-11 3/4, but Daywalt won the
jump off between the two.
Junior
Justin Prevette, meanwhile, placed sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.93
in the finals.
In the men's
one mile run, sophomore Wil Zahorodny added a sixth-place finish with a time of
4:21.28
UNCW
returns to action on Jan. 29-30, when it visits the Tidewater region of Virginia for the Captains Invitational at Christopher Newport University.
