Count Bilas Among Blizzard's Biggest Fans

WILMINGTON, N.C. ? Seahawk fans everywhere always knew former guard Brett Blizzard was one of college basketball's greatest long range shooters. Now, ESPN hoops analyst Jay Bilas has validated it.

In his latest story posted on ESPN.com, Bilas ranked Blizzard 22nd on his chart of college basketball's all-time Top 25 three-point shooters. Blizzard, who is now playing professionally in Italy, led the Seahawks to four post-season appearances during his prolific career and has his jersey hanging in the rafters of Trask Coliseum.

“Every time Blizzard shot the ball, it looked like a swish,” Bilas wrote. “He could hit off screens, in transition, and spotting up, and if you lost him for a split second, you could count it.”

Blizzard's photo was featured with the story on the web site and Bilas said narrowing down the list was a difficult task.

“The list of great shooters since 1986 in a long one,” Bilas wrote, “but it is unbalanced because it leaves out the great shooters who came before the line was introduced. There is a symmetry in that.”

Blizzard drained 371-of-876 treys during his career with the Seahawks for a .424 clip. He remains the Colonial Athletic Association's career leader in trifectas and still holds or shares 23 school records at UNCW.
