WILMINGTON, N.C. ? Kevin Eastman, an assistant on Doc Rivers' bench with the Boston Celtics during the NBA Finals, once enjoyed time as the head men's basketball coach at UNC Wilmington.
During his four-year stint with the Seahawks from 1991-94, Eastman finished fifth in the Colonial Athletic Association in his first two years, won 17 games and finished third in the conference during his third year and won two tournament titles and finished with an 18-10 overall record in his final season. The Seahawks went 59-53 under Eastman, who moved on to Washington State in the Pac-10 Conference.
No stranger to the coaching carrousel, Eastman has held four assistant coaching positions (Richmond, Colorado State, VCU and Tulsa), three head coaching positions (UNC Wilmington, Washington State and Belmont Abbey) as well as two athletic director positions at Belmont Abbey (1986-89) and Randolph-Macon (2002-03).
Before rejoining the Celtics this season, Eastman served as Nike's National Director of Skill Development for Basketball (2003-04) as well as the owner/operator of Kevin Eastman Basketball Camps in Richmond.
