Prospective Student Athletes – Expectations

• Freshmen and Transfer students are required to meet with their SASS advisor weekly throughout the year to ensure that they are keeping up with their academic transition to UNCW.  

• All athletes are to attend all required student athlete development events for their class year. 

• Tutoring is available through the Student Athlete Support Services office. Athletes are required to communicate with their SASS advisor if they are interested in receiving tutoring through the SASS office. 

• Students must declare a major at the end of their freshmen year or at the beginning of their sophomore year.  

• After deciding on a major, athletes will have an academic advisor within their major. However, they are still able to meet with their SASS advisor as well.  

• All athletes are required to communicate with their SASS academic advisor on any changes academically. 

• All athletes are required to communicate with their SASS academic advisor on any conflicts that arise. 

• All athletes must provide their professors with consistent updates on travel schedules and any other changes throughout their season.  

• All student athletes must uphold academic integrity throughout all years as UNCW students.
