Men's Soccer Victorious in CAA Opener

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW men's soccer team authored its fourth straight shutout of 2026 to claim its Coastal Athletic Association opener against Elon with a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks (3-0-1, 1-0-0 CAA) defeated the defending league champion Phoenix (1-2-1, 0-1-1 CAA) for the first time since the spring 2021 season.

Defender Jake Roberts booted in the game-winning goal in the seventh minute on a free kick played into the box by midfielders Osei Gyamfi and Kieran Radke , giving the Seahawks a lead they would not surrender.

Both teams totaled nine shots, including five on target, while UNCW goalkeeper Alex Kron totaled five saves to Elon netminder Drew Hartman's four.

The Seahawks, who won their league opener for the first time since 2022, have not conceded a goal through their first four games for the first time in eight seasons.

UNCW returns to action next Saturday when it hosts William & Mary at 6 p.m. as part of Alumni Weekend.
