Men's Soccer Remains Unbeaten with Comeback Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The resilient UNCW men's soccer team remained undefeated in Coastal Athletic Association play with a 2-1 comeback victory over William & Mary on Saturday night before 1,045 fans on hand for Alumni Weekend at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The Seahawks, who received national votes in the United Soccer Coaches national poll last week, remained unbeaten in 2026 at 4-0-1, including a 2-0 mark in league play. 

The Tribe, who entered Saturday in first place in the CAA South Division, dipped to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the circuit.

Roughly five minutes after UNCW became the last Division I program in the country to concede a goal this season, freshman Cameron Keay evened the game at 1-1 in the 59th minute on a short-distance strike on a deflected Osei Gyamfi shot attempt.

The Seahawks completed the rally three minutes later when captain Bryan Miralrio headed in his second goal of the season on a free kick played into the box by sophomore Benjamin Gooding. 

UNCW totaled 20 shot attempts for the second time this season, including five by Miralrio and three apiece by Gyamfi and freshman Cormac Austin. Together, the three accounted for six of the Seahawks' on-goal attempts.

William & Mary's Alex Garrison broke the scoreless tie nine minutes into the second half on a breakaway goal set up by Thor Sigurjonsson and Aidan Gatchell.

UNCW next heads to Raleigh for a 6 p.m. road contest at NC State, the 2025 national runner-up, on Tuesday on the ACC Network Extra.
