Tyrrell, Lucas Key UNCW In Series-Clinching Win

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Will Tyrrell and Trevor Lucas combined for five hits, scored five runs and knocked in five at the top of the order in UNCW's series-clinching 10-7 win over North Carolina A&T on Saturday at World War Memorial Stadium.

The Seahawks upped their record to 28-21 with the win and 16-10 in the league. The Aggies, meanwhile, dropped to 12-36 with the home loss and 3-23 in the CAA.

Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, UNCW exploded with six runs as Danny O'Brien launched his fifth homer of the season, and later in the inning, Tyrrell and Lucas homered back-to-back.

Tyrrell finished 2-for-2 with three walks, homered, and tripled, while Lucas was 3-for-4 with his ninth homer of the season.

Kevin Jones, Jake Bechtel, and JP Pennella all finished with two hits.

Cooper Allen (7-3) earned the win, and Mason Ruh notched the save, the first of his season.

Nick DeCarlo, Bruce Wyche, and Reginald Tuggle had two-hit games for the Aggies, who turned five double plays in the game. Ryan Allen homered in the ninth for NC A&T.

Jordan Bright (1-7) was tagged with the loss.

The final game of the series is Sunday at 1 p.m. with the Seahawks looking to sweep.
