Seahawks Struggle In Series-Opening Loss

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Charleston's Carter Harrington limited UNCW to two runs over seven innings as the Cougars shut down the Seahawks on Friday with a 6-2 win at Brooks Field.

The Cougars improved to 21-23 on the season and 11-11 in the Coastal Athletic Association, while the Seahawks saw their four-game winning streak snapped to fall to 25-19 and 13-9.

Harrington (2-4) held the Seahawks to four hits and struck out three to earn the win.

Cooper Allen (6-3) suffered the loss, going 4.2 innings and allowing five runs on eight hits. He walked four and hit one.

Jake Bechtel hit his team-leading eighth homer of the season for UNCW.

Ethan Plyler finished with three hits and scored twice. Nick Diaz was 2-for-2 with a pair of runs knocked in.

The series continues Saturday with game time moved to 6 p.m. due to inclement weather earlier in the day.
