Seahawks Split Two Games on Saturday

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team split a pair of games at home on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout win vs. UNC Greensboro and a narrow 3-2 extra innings setback to Army at Boseman Field.

The Seahawks stand 11-10 ahead of the weekend finale against the Spartans (14-11) at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Black Knights (8-10) conclude the weekend against Toledo at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning.

Junior Peyton Eckert (1-1) limited UNCG to one hit over five shutout innings and Makayla Huddleston picked up her second save of 2026 with two scoreless relief innings.

Spartans pitcher Brooklyn Shroyer (7-4) tossed all six innings for the visitors with five strikeouts and one earned run allowed.

Freshman Ava Brookshire drove in all three runs for the Seahawks with a second-inning RBI groundout and a two-run single to right field in the bottom of the fourth.

In UNCW's second contest, the Seahawks also struck first with an infield RBI single off the bat of Averie Daughtry.

Army then tied the game in the top of the seventh and plated two go-ahead runs in the eighth to go up 3-1.

Brookshire singled home ghost runner Ava Tsiouplis with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, but Army pitcher Katelyn Flanders (2-2) induced a groundout to strand Brookshire on second.

UNCW's Taylor Barlow (2-1) took the loss for the Seahawks.
