Men's Tennis Breezes past Queens, 5-0

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW's men's tennis team shut out visiting Queens, 5-0, on Sunday to improve to 8-1 at home this season.

Overall, the Seahawks jumped to 9-8 with the win as their winning streak grew to four. The Royals, meanwhile, fell to 0-12.

UNVW earned the doubles point as Lukas Steffen and William Dean posted a 6-2 win at number two doubles.

UNCW red-shirt freshman Augie Ballantine made his collegiate debut on Sunday, teaming with Tomas Marin at number three doubles.

Dean also posted his first collegiate singles win, fashioning a 6-3, 6-2 win at number six singles that gave UNCW a 2-0 lead.

Brady Hussey provided the clinching win, a straight-set 6-2, 7-6 (7-2) decision at number four singles.

Up next for the Seahawks are home matches with Georgia State (Apr. 3) and Delaware (Apr 4) to close out their home schedule this season. The GSU match is set for 2 p.m., while the UD match will see first serve at 1 p.m.
