Wade Earns Career Win 100

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW freshman Camille Hamilton fired a one-hitter to help the Seahawks earn a 1-0 win over Elon in the Coastal Athletic Association softball series finale on Sunday afternoon at Boseman Field.

The Seahawks (16-13, 4-2 CAA) earned their 100th win under fourth-year head coach Ashley Wade, who guided the program to their second CAA championship in 2024.

The Phoenix (11-18, 5-1 CAA) took their first league loss of the season after winning the series' first two games on Friday and Saturday.

Hamilton (7-3) struck out five for her second complete game of the series and fourth overall this season. The reigning CAA Pitcher of the Week and D1 Softball Mid-Major Freshman of the Week's lone blemish was an infield single off the bat of Elon's Mary Moss Wirt to lead off the third inning.

The Seahawks fashioned five hits off Phoenix starter Anna Dew (7-5).

Sunday, similar to the first two games of the series, featured three scoreless innings before the game's first run.

Freshman Emily Whitwell and Kylie Gower started the bottom of the fourth with singles to eventually set up a Becca Merrick RBI groundout for the game's first run.

UNCW hosts Charleston for a key CAA South series next weekend at Boseman Field.
