Softball Falls vs. Elon

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Elon used a three-RBI day by Teagan Baulsir to hand UNCW a 4-2 setback in Coastal Athletic Association softball action on Saturday afternoon at Boseman Field.

The Phoenix remain undefeated in conference play at 5-0 and stand 11-18 overall. The Seahawks dipped to 3-2 in the league and are 15-13 on the season.

Similar to Friday, Elon's Lia Miller (3-2) and UNCW's Lynsie Herman (3-2) traded three scoreless innings before Baulsir's two-run single in the top of the fourth put the Phoenix on the board.

Baulsir drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning and Kayla Wilson added another insurance run with a groundout.

Second baseman Grace Hennessy's two-run double to left field slice the deficit in half in the bottom of the seventh to bring the tying run to the plate, but Miller induced a groundout to end the game.

The series concludes on Sunday at 1 p.m.
