Softball Drops 2-0 Decision vs. Elon

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW softball freshman Camille Hamilton tossed her third complete game of the season but Elon plated a pair of runs to open a three-game Coastal Athletic Association softball series with a 2-0 win on Friday night at Boseman Field.

The Phoenix (10-18, 4-0 CAA) remain perfect in conference play while the Seahawks (15-12, 3-1 CAA) took their first league loss.

Hamilton (6-3) and Dew (7-4), who both finished with four strikeouts, traded scoreless frames in a pitcher's duel through three innings before the Phoenix's Chloe Hatzopoulos broke the tie with a solo home run to left field in the top of the fourth.

Elon added an insurance run in the top of seventh when Teagen Baulsir doubled home Payton Swart, who singled a batter earlier.

UNCW's Allison Corbin added a double and Cassidy Relay pushed her reached base streak to 12 games with a third-inning full count walk.

The series resumes on Saturday at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available but the game will not be streamed.
