Baumgartner Completes Rally For Men's Tennis

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW defended its home court on Saturday with a come-from-behind, 4-3, win over Coastal Athletic Association rival William & Mary at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks, who are 5-0 at home, ran their winning streak to three while the record jumped to 5-7. The Tribe, meanwhile, fell to 6-7.

The winning point came on court four as Oscar Baumgartner, who went 3-0 this week, gutted out a three-set win over his opponent. He closed out the match with a convincing 6-1 win in the third set.

The Tribe earned the doubles point and added a win on court one for a 2-0 lead.

Jordi Domenech got the Seahawks on the board with a straight-set win at number three singles, but W&M added a win on court two for a 3-1 lead.

Brady Hussey began the comeback on court six with a 6-1, 7-5 win, and Tomas Marin followed with a 6-4, 6-4 at number five singles.

Baumgartner dropped the first set, 6-1, but evened the match with a 6-3 win in the second set, setting the stage for his clinching point.

The Seahawks next host Wichita State on Mar. 18, at 2 p.m.
