Hamilton Tosses Perfect Game in CAA Opener

GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Freshman pitcher Camille Hamilton struck out a career-high 11 batters to fashion a six-inning perfect game at North Carolina A&T as UNCW opened Coastal Athletic Association softball play with an 8-0 run-rule victory on Friday afternoon at the Lady Aggies Softball Complex.

Based on available records, Hamilton (5-2) recorded the first known perfect game in program history as well as the seventh no-hitter for the Seahawks, who improved to 13-10 and 1-0 in league play.

The Garner, N.C., native's path to the first perfecto in school history began with strikeouts of seven of the first 12 Aggie (13-16, 0-4 CAA) batters she faced over four scoreless innings. Hamilton then completed the feat with four strikeouts in the final two innings of play, including striking out the side in the bottom of the fifth on 13 pitches.

Catcher Sierra Persinger's bases-clearing, three-RBI double in the top of the sixth capped a strong offensive day that also included a two-run fourth inning that was started with back-to-back doubles by Ava Brookshire and Allison Corbin, both of whom had multi-hits in the contest, including Brookshire's RBI double in the fifth.

UNCW started the scoring in the first two innings with sacrifice flies off the bats of Emily Whitwell and Peyton Carver.

Hamilton is the third Seahawk in as many years to allow no hits in a game, joining teammate Makayla Huddleston, who accomplished the feat on Mar. 28, 2025, at Monmouth, and former All-CAA hurler Emily Winstead, who no-hit Drexel on the road on Apr. 27, 2024. Persinger caught both Huddleston last season and Hamilton on Friday.

UNCW's five doubles, including one off the bat of Madison Biddle, is the most in a game since the 2020 campaign.

N.C. A&T starter Devin Login (3-5) tossed three innings in the loss.

The series resumes on Saturday at 1 p.m.
