Seahawks Best Cougars, 76-64

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Five UNCW men's basketball players reached double figures and the Seahawks never trailed en route to a 76-64 Coastal Athletic Association road victory at Charleston on Monday night at TD Arena.

The Seahawks (20-4, 9-2 CAA) extended their program record to five straight 20-win seasons, achieving their largest margin of victory at Charleston (16-9, 9-3 CAA) in program history.

Senior Greedy Williams scored 11 of his team-high 16 points in the first half for UNCW, while teammate Patrick Wessler achieved his 12th double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Senior starters Christian May (14 points), Nolan Hodge (12), and Noah Ross (11) also reached double figures for UNCW.

For Charleston, graduate guard Jylnn Counter ed all scorers with 20 points, center Christian Reeves recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and freshman Chris Davis Jr. contributed 11 points.

The hot-shooting Seahawks drained eight of their first nine shots on their way to establishing a double-digit lead four minutes and 12 seconds into the contest with an 11-0 run to make it 15-4.

Charleston pulled within a single-possession on four occasions deep into the first half, but UNCW responded each time and carried a 42-32 advantage into the break after a pair of Williams three-pointers in the final minute.

The Seahawks dominated the paint, 38-26, and won the overall and offensive rebound advantage, 39-37 and 13-7, respectively. UNCW led by as many as 19 in the second half for its sixth straight win against Charleston and third straight at TD Arena.

The Seahawks return home for Homecoming weekend with Elon (Feb. 12) and Hofstra (Feb. 14) on deck.

World-famous unicycling acrobat Red Panda will perform at halftime of the Thursday night game against the Phoenix, while Saturday's annual Homecoming game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.
