Carrico, Snowden Named CAA Swimmers of the Week

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW'S William Carrico and Cameron Snowden were honored as Swimmers of the Week by the Coastal Athletic Association following strong performances in the dual meet finale at NC State last week.

Carrico, who was tabbed on the men's side, placed third in a competitive 400 IM event against nationally ranked NC State. The junior touched the wall in 3:48.83, which was less than two seconds off his CAA-best time in the event and nearly five seconds faster than any other performance in the league. He was also part of UNCW's 200 medley relay team that posted a season-best time of 1:26.53.

Snowden, the women's award winner, turned in several strong performances in UNCW's meet against nationally ranked NC State. The senior finished second in the 50 free with a time of 22.71, which was just .07 off her league-best effort this season. She took second in the 100 fly with an NCAA-qualifying time of 52.34. Snowden was also part of UNCW's 200 medley relay team that set a program record with a time of 1:38.85.

With the dual meet season finished, the Seahawks turn their attention to defending their conference titles late this month in Hampton, Va. The Aquaplex will serve as the backdrop with the men looking for their fifth consecutive championship and the women their fourth. The championship opens Feb. 25.
