UNCW Rolls to 88-65 Win vs. N.C. A&T

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team scored 44 points in each half to roll to an 88-65 victory over visiting North Carolina A&T in the penultimate home game for the Seahawks on Thursday night at a sold-out Trask Coliseum.

The Seahawks improved to 25-4 with a 14-2 mark in Coastal Athletic Association play, while the Aggies fell to 11-16 and 4-12 in the league.

UNCW redshirt junior Patrick Wessler scored 19 points while Jahnathan Lamothe contributed 15 points. Senior Greedy Williams added 14 points, and Nolan Hodge added 13 points.

Redshirt sophomore Zamoku Weluche-Ume paced N.C. A&T with 15 points, while redshirt freshman Lewis Walker also contributed 15. Meanwhile, Dwayne Pierce and Trent Middleton Jr. each added 10.

Earlier in the game, the Seahawks, holding a 21-18 lead with 9:06 to go in the first half, erupted on a 15-2 run and outscored the Aggies 23-8 the rest of the half to hold a 44-26 lead at halftime.

UNCW never trailed by less than 15 in the second half and by as many as 25 in the final minutes on a Lamothe three-pointer with 2:21 to go.

The Seahawks can claim the outright league regular season title on Sunday with a win against Charleston at 7 p.m. UNCW will honor seven players – Noah Ross, Nolan Hodge, Greedy Williams, Christian May, Madison Durr, JoJo Fullwood and Grady Whitt – in a special pregame Senior Day ceremony.
