Women's Basketball Drops Long Island Finale

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior Kylah Silver led UNCW with 15 points on Sunday in a 75-43 loss to Hofstra at the Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex in Coastal Athletic Association women's basketball action.

With the win, the Pride improved to 6-19 on the season and 4-10 in the CAA. UNCW, meanwhile, fell back to 6-20 and 2-13.

The Pride, which completed a sweep of the home-and-home series, grabbed control of the contest with a 16-0 run in the first quarter and never looked back.

Silver added eight rebounds for the Seahawks while freshman Icyss Storm finished with 11 points and nine rebounds. She also paced the Seahawks with three assists.

Micaela Carter led all scorers with 23 points and Ema Karim added 12 on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor.

The Pride finished at 50% from the field while limiting the Seahawks to 27.3% shooting.

The Seahawks close out their home schedule on Mar. 1 against William & Mary. The Seahawks will honor their seniors that day. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and will be part of a doubleheader with the men's team facing the College of Charleston at 7 p.m. on CBS Sportsnet.
