UNCW Rolls Past Longwood, 5-2

FARMVILLE, Va. – UNCW earned wins in 5-of-6 singles matches to knock off Longwood, 5-2, in its season-opener on Saturday at the Lancers Court.

The Lancers fell to 1-1 with the home loss.

Junior Katelyn Hubbard opened the singles action with a 6-1, 6-2 win at fourth singles, and junior Alex Borcich posted a 6-2, 6-2 win at fifth singles. At second singles, Elif Albayrak chalked up UNCW's third straight-set victory, winning 6-3, 6-1.

Both Eda Arli and Gabbie Glickstein closed out the match with three-set victories at first and sixth singles.

The Seahawks visit Mount Olive on Feb. 20 when they open a brief two-match road swing, which also includes a 10 a.m. start at UNCA on Feb. 22.
