Men's Tennis Cruises In Home Opener, 6-1

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW breezed past visiting Presbyterian, 6-1, to win its home opener on Friday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks, who opened with losses to Texas and Washington at the ITA Kickoff Weekend, improved to 1-2. The Blue Hose, meanwhile, dropped to 2-3.

After seeing the teams of Jordi Domenech/Alexander Thompson and Alex de Gabriele/Harry Abel pick up 6-2 and 6-1 wins, respectively, the Seahawks won five of the six singles matches for the win.

Lukas Steffen stormed past Dakah Prasad in number one singles, needing just 85 minutes in a 6-4, 6-2 win.

De Gabriele and Brady Hussey fashioned straight set win on courts three and five.

The Seahawks next host Coastal Carolina on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.
