Men's Hoops Rallies for Seventh Straight Win

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – For the third time in Coastal Athletic Association play and fifth time overall this season, the UNCW men's basketball team erased a double-digit deficit to edge Campbell 78-75 before a sold-out Trask Coliseum on Saturday night.

The Seahawks remain the lone conference team unbeaten at 6-0 and stand 17-2 overall following their seventh straight win and 14th straight at home in the all-time series against the Fighting Camels, who dropped their second straight to be 3-3 in the league and 9-10 in 2025-26.

Redshirt junior Patrick Wessler established a career-high of 23 points on 10-of-12 from the field, along with eight rebounds. Guards Madison Durr and Greedy Williams combined for 37 points, including 27 in the second half. Durr's season-high 20 points included 16 following halftime.

Campbell graduate guard led all scored with 24 points while Jeremiah Johnson added 20 points. Forward Dovydas Butka added his seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds, trailing only Wessler (9) for the conference lead.

Campbell led 38-34 at halftime and by as many as 13 points before UNCW made its move with 11:10 left in the game. Williams converted 1-of-2 from the line to jumpstart a 19-6 spurt that flipped a 61-49 Campbell lead into a narrow 68-67 advantage for the Seahawks with 5:10 to go.

The final seven minutes featured two ties and two lead changes with both teams within possession of each other. With the game even 72-72 with 3:10 on the clock, Williams closed out the win with four of UNCW's final six points to complete the comeback.

The Camels started the second half hitting eight of their first 10 shots before the Seahawks limited them to six of their final 18 attempts.

The Seahawks begin a three-game road swing on Thursday at William & Mary before playing at Hampton on Saturday.
