WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW women's soccer scored three goals in the first half en route to a 3-2 victory against Charleston in the battle for first place in the Coastal Athletic Association South Division on Sunday afternoon at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
UNCW won its third straight match, improving to 7-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the CAA to remain in first place in the CAA South Division standings. Charleston dropped to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the league.
With the victory, Chris Neal earned his 150th career win as a women's head coach at the collegiate level. Neal also recorded his 60th victory as the head coach at UNCW.
Hailey Longwell and Ayanna Parker each tallied a goal and an assist in the win. Parker recorded her third goal of the season to become the Seahawks' leader in points in 2025, while tying for the team-high in goals.
Parker found the back of the net for the second straight match to give UNCW a 3-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
Brenna Booth picked up her first career assist on Parker's goal, initiating the scoring sequence with a through ball from midfield.
Longwell gave UNCW a 2-0 lead in the 37th minute with her second goal of the season, scoring off assists from Kayla Adams and Parker. Adams, Longwell and Parker are all tied for the team-high in assists.
Sophomore midfielder Abbey Pierson put UNCW ahead in the 17th minute with her first career goal, scoring from the six-yard box on a pass from Longwell.
Pierson became the ninth different player to score for the Seahawks during the 2025 campaign. With Booth's assist, nine different Seahawks have also tallied an assist during the season.
Morgan Hobbs, the reigning CAA Defensive Player of the Week, made six saves in the win. Hobbs has tallied at least four saves per match during UNCW's three-match win streak.
The Seahawks will hit the road to face Elon (6-2-3, 0-2-1 CAA) in a South Division matchup on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 7 p.m.
