WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Senior forward Ayanna Parker scored her second goal of the season to lift UNCW women's soccer to a 1-0 victory against Monmouth on Sunday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
With the victory, the Seahawks improved to 6-3-1 overall and 2-0 in Coastal Athletic Association play, while Monmouth fell to 5-4-1 on the season and 0-2 in the league. UNCW has now posted clean sheets in four of its last five matches.Â
UNCW extended its unbeaten streak on the road, moving to 5-0-1 in away matches during the 2025 campaign. The Seahawks continue to match their best start on the road since 2021, the year they won the CAA regular season title.Â
The Seahawks' 2-0 start in league play is also their best since the 2021 season.
Shortly after a Seahawks throw-in, Parker broke the scoreless tie in the 34th minute. She placed a left-footed strike from just outside the six-yard box in the top left corner for her seventh career goal.
Sophomore midfielder Abbey Pierson, a Sparta, New Jersey native, recorded her first assist of the season on the play, becoming the eighth different UNCW player to tally an assist in 2025.Â
Morgan Hobbs anchored the Seahawks' defensive unit, setting a new season-high with six saves. Hobbs moved to 5-3-1 on the season and posted her third solo clean sheet of 2025, tying for the third-most shutouts in the CAA.
The Seahawks will play their first CAA South Division match against Charleston (6-3-1)Â on Sunday, Sept. 28, at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
