Hoyer Nets First Win At UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Hannah Forbes and Marnie Ursem had eight kills apiece as UNCW swept visiting West Georgia (25-20, 25-20, 25-11) on Saturday for its first win of the season at the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational.

The win was also the first for Lo Hoyer, who took over the program in December of 2024.

The Seahawks dropped their second match of the day in five sets against UNCG to move to 1-7 on the season.

UNCW hit a season-high .295 in the win over UWG and recorded 12service aces.

Ursem added three aces and totaled four blocks while Forbes posted three aces of her own.

Coley Shiflet held match-high honors with 11 digs.

Against UNCG, Forbes posted a double-double of 12 kills and 10 digs.

UNCG's Allie Best finished with a match-best 23 kills.

The Seahawks round out their weekend on Saturday with a 2 p.m. start against Charlotte.
