UNCW Athletics Unveils Brand Refresh

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Athletics Department has announced the addition of a pair of word marks as well as a change to its teal color as it rolls out a brand refresh for the 2025-26 academic year.

"The UNCW brand has continued to grow and evolve," said UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger. "This refresh, along with a personalized UNCW Script, marks a pivotal moment - bringing unity to our identity and energizing our community that reflects the pride of UNCW Athletics. I want to extend my gratitude to Joe Bosack and his team for crafting these logos. We are ecstatic about how it turned out and are excited to share it with the community."

The primary logo for the department will be the Seahawk head (above), which features an adjusted color of teal that UNCW is using school-wide. Introduced in 2015, this logo has risen to the top marks used to identify both athletics and the university.

"An overall simplification of the 2015 variant, the refreshed UNCW wordmark adds subtle hints to the curvature of Seahawk wings in the U, N, and W," said Bosack. "The familiar talon hook in the C remains. New to the visual identity is a custom script that carries through similar characteristics in the S, while capturing a beach-themed, surf style."

The "Seahawks" script continues to be a staple after being introduced in 2024-25. This new mark will be featured on team uniforms and merchandise in addition to facilities throughout the department.

The beloved teal, which was introduced in 1995, returns in a different shade. The new teal, officially launched internally on July 1, showcases a brighter, more vibrant color that enhances visual consistency while staying true to UNCW's brand identity.
