Seahawks, Eagles Play to Scoreless Draw

STATESBORO, Georgia – The UNCW men's soccer team fashioned a scoreless draw in its road opener at Georgia Southern on Sunday night at Bo Pitts Field.

The Seahawks (0-1-1) fashioned a double-digit shot total (17) for the second straight game against the Eagles (1-0-1), who played their home opener on Sunday.

A trio of Seahawks - William Ampofo, Jack Clarkson and Osei Gyamfi - paced visiting UNCW with three shots apiece, while both of junior midfielder Alex Hornada's attempts were on goal.

UNCW's Trey Smiley, who had three saves, collected his third career shutout while GSU's Nate Martinez earned his second straight clean sheet of 2025.

The Seahawks have now tied in their road opener in each of the last four seasons and are unbeaten in true road openers dating back to the 2013 campaign.

The Seahawks return to the Port City next Saturday to host Elon in the Coastal Athletic Association opener at 7 p.m.
