WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW women's basketball head coach Nicole Woods has finalized the Seahawks' additions for the 2025-26 season, adding Rori Cox and Ebbony Wilson to the roster.
Cox, a 5-foot-7-inch guard from Brooklyn, New York, arrives in Wilmington as a graduate student. Cox spent the past two seasons at NCAA Division II Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia.
In her two seasons at Virginia Union, Cox appeared in 43 games and scored 525 points (12.2 PPG). During the 2024-25 campaign, the Panthers finished 21-9, including 13-3 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Cox shot 42.8% from the field, averaging 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.6 steals in 26.7 minutes per contest.
Cox spent the 2022-23 season at NCAA Division II Bluefield State in Bluefield, West Virginia, and the 2021-22 season at Cloud County Community College in Concordia, Kansas.
"Rori is a dynamic playmaker for herself and others," Woods said. "She also is a lockdown defender who brings a sense of toughness. We are looking forward to her veteran leadership from the guard position and are thrilled to have her!"
Wilson, a native of Los Angeles, California, was one of the top high school players in the state as a senior at St. Mary's Academy in Inglewood, California. Wilson, a 5-foot-10-inch combo guard, was a 2025 McDonald's All-American West nominee and the state's leading scorer (MaxPreps), averaging 31.9 points per game with two 50+ point scoring efforts.
In over 100 career games, Wilson totaled 1,587 points, 623 rebounds, 300 assists, 263 steals, and 153 blocks. Wilson was a three-time all-state selection and a three-time Camino Real League MVP. She also led the Belles to a pair of league championships.
"We needed to bring in some players that could really score the ball, and Ebbony fits that mold. She has great length and will add depth to the combo guard position. We look forward to having her come to the East Coast!"
