UNCW Baseball Drops 8-4 Decision To Chanticleers

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Brock Wills collected three hits in UNCW's 8-4 loss to nationally-ranked Coastal Carolina on Tuesday at Brooks Field.

The 21st-ranked Chanticleers improved to 24-9 with the win as they swept the home-and-home series.  The Seahawks, meanwhile, tumbled to 16-17 with their second straight loss.

After UNCW grabbed a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the second, Coastal struck for three two-out runs for a 4-3 lead. Bromley Thornton (0-2) issued a two-out walk and the Chants strung together three straight hits capped by a two-run double off the bat of Domenico Tozzi.

Reliever Darin Horn (1-1) earned the win with three innings of shutout baseball, allowing just one hit.

Three Coastal players finished with two hits and the Chants plated four runs with two outs.

UNCW hosts William & Mary on Coastal Athletic Association action on Friday at 6 p.m.
