Softball Evens Series Behind Barlow's Complete Game

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Right-hander Taylor Barlow tossed her fifth complete game of the season as the UNCW softball team tied the series with a 3-2 win over Delaware on Saturday afternoon at Boseman Field.

The Seahawks moved to 22-13 with an 8-6 Coastal Athletic Association record. The Blue Hens stand 21-13 and 10-4 in the circuit.

An Allison Corbin two-RBI double keyed a three-run first inning that also featured a Maggie Pertee run-scoring single.

Delaware put runs on the board in the fifth and seventh innings with sacrifice-flies. The Blue Hens had two runners in scoring position with two outs in the final frame before Barlow included a Katie Scheivert lineout to third base to end the game.

Barlow (6-3) stranded six Delaware batters and scattered five hits with a pair of strikeouts.

Delaware's Morgan Hess (4-4) pitched all six innings and surrendered two hits.

The UNCW win sets up a rubber match between the two teams in the series finale on Sunday at Noon.
