Herman Tosses Complete Game in Tuesday Setback

WILMINGTON, North Carolina -- UNCW freshman Lynsie Herman tossed her third complete game of the season in the Seahawks' 5-0 non-conference softball setback to visiting North Carolina on a windy Tuesday night at Boseman Field.

The Tar Heels improved to 33-13 while the Seahawks fell to 23-18 following their non-conference finale.

UNC's Britton Rogers (7-2) scattered three hits and struck out three in 5.1 innings. The right-hander traded scoreless frames with Herman (4-2) in the first three innings of the contest.

With the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, UNCW worked a 4-6-3 double-play that allowed the Tar Heels' first run to cross home. UNC struck for a run in the sixth and added three in the seventh for the 5-0 final.

The Seahawks' Madison Biddle collected two hits while shortstop Maggie Pertee worked a pair of walks.

UNCW continues Coastal Athletic Association play this weekend vs. Stony Brook from Apr. 18-20.
